Dear
I am interested in seeing environmentally friendly paper products at my local stores. I am aware that a growing number of companies are manufacturing eco-friendly products, but I have noticed a lack of eco-friendly paper alternatives on the shelves at grocery stores, drug stores, and stationary supply stores. As you know, people are becoming conscious consumers, meaning that they are careful about where they are spending their money. The primary concerns for conscious consumers are environment, human rights, animal rights, and health. Paper pulp depletes our earth's forests considerably. An additional environmental concern is the release of dioxins when paper pulp is bleached. Dioxins are among the chemicals that destroy our ozone layer.
I think it would be a prudent business decision to offer an alternative, unbleached brand of paper products that are made from 100% recycled paper. It is difficult to find such an environmentally friendly paper alternative at the stores I regularly shop at, which is why I think getting them on the shelves is an excellent opportunity.
I hope my feedback has been helpful. Please contact me with any further information.
Thank you,

I agree and I would really like to know why when it is an option, it's so expensive. Does it really cost less to recycle than it does to cut down a tree and drive it to a processing plant. It seems like it would be easier to collect the paper that the consciencius(sp?) consumer is voluntarily giving up. BTW nice blog, but people need a name to comment to. Your doing well with getting your personality out there, but we need an identity to connect with. Just a humble opinion.

Hi Ron, thanks for following my blog, and posting! My name is Leah Blumas, and I'm currently moving this blog to a website I'm creating (first time I've done this so it's going slowly..). I'm going to make it more personal, and also more news/facts-oriented. I post pretty much every day, so check back when you can.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for your suggestion, and comment about price of recycled goods. I've realized that I need to do more research and get some good facts out there. I'm going to start with prices.
Hope to hear more from you!
All the best!
I'd recommend targeting specific manufacturers that use wood derived from natural forests vs. manufacturers that get their products from managed tree farms in the southern United States (Georgia Pacific, or Weyerhaeuser). The production time of a farm raised tree is 20 to 30 years vs. the wild tree's of the western US that come into production every 80 to 120 years. Then you can write another letter to those above mentioned companies to make sure they use natural, organic, recycled and/or green processes to produce their farm raised trees all the way through the shipping process. If you check their websites, you will find these companies appreciate feedback from consumers. Weyerhaueser trees are used for everything from paper to building houses. TTF
